Julian Sutton is the retained Planning Consultant to St Pancras Hotels Group and has acted for a number of years in respect to matters relating to the Megaro Hotel at King’s Cross previously securing planning permission for an extension to the hotel and various other works.
Most recently, working alongside Clyde & Co Solicitors, Julian Sutton has acted for the client in respect to enforcement action regarding the exterior painting of the building in 2012 by internationally renowned graffiti artists Agents of Change to create London’s largest mural and urban street art. Following its installation, Camden Council pursued enforcement action against the painting of the mural arguing that it represented an advertisement of the host premises. An Appeal was submitted in response to the issuing of an Enforcement Notice. The appeal was successful and the Enforcement Notice was quashed with the Inspector fully endorsing the Appellant’s position that the mural did not represent an advertisement or require advertisement consent.
